UMA shall provide a forum for the exchange of information relevant to management in the university setting and to encourage productive interaction among members.
The University Managers Association (UMA) was established in 1983 as a result of the first University Management Development Program (UMDP) classes. Participants met with several UNC managers to plan continued networking. A steering committee was formed from this group and the first UMA meeting was held September 14, 1983.
To expand University support for training and finding ways to recognize university employees. UMA benefits all campus managers by this being a voice for change on issues of widespread importance.
