Membership in the University Managers Association is open to permanent employees of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or North Carolina Central University who hold a managerial position. Managers may have supervisory responsibility for technical, professional, administrative, or supervisory employees, or may have responsibilities that include such managerial functions as planning, evaluation, coordination or consultation. Managers are responsible for the performance of their units whether or not they have supervisory responsibilities.
UMA members who have retired from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or North Carolina Central University are also eligible for ongoing membership at a reduced rate.
In light of a recent change to the UMA bylaws, the membership year now corresponds to the fiscal year. The current membership year will extend through June 30, 2014.
